Meta Ad Library: your competitors' ads, tracked automatically

The Meta Ad Library lists every ad running on Facebook and Instagram. AdLupe reads it every day for your competitors and shows you what is new, what changed and what stopped.

What is the Meta Ad Library?

The Meta Ad Library is Meta's public archive of advertising on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and the Audience Network. For ads delivered in the EU, the Digital Services Act requires more detail: who advertises, who pays, how long an ad runs and whom it is meant to reach.

That makes it the most reliable source for what your competitors advertise on Facebook and Instagram. AdLupe uses it as a data source, together with the Google Ads Transparency Center.

Why the library alone is not enough

The library is an archive, not a tool for watching competitors. Use it for that and you soon hit its limits:

  • One search shows one advertiser. Five competitors mean five searches, every week from scratch.
  • It remembers nothing for you. Which ad is new since yesterday and which one stopped is not visible at a glance.
  • It never tells you. When a competitor launches a campaign, you only find out if you happen to look.
  • The same company's Google ads sit elsewhere, in a library of their own.

How AdLupe tracks your competitors' Meta ads

You enter a competitor's website. AdLupe finds the matching Facebook and Instagram pages, and you confirm them with one click. From then on AdLupe reads the library for you every day.

Every ad shows its text, start date and run time, plus a signal that does the sorting for you:

  • New: running for less than 7 days.
  • Proven: running for 30 days or more. Whoever pays that long usually has a reason.
  • Short test: stopped again after a short time.

What the ads tell you

An ad that has run for weeks is one the competitor keeps paying for. That says more about its success than any estimate. Many new ads at once point to a campaign, a new offer or the start of a season. And the copy shows which offers and arguments your competitors are using to win your customers right now.
